Title: Feeling Overwhelmed: How to Navigate Burnout in a High-Stress Job

I’m currently sitting at my desk, feeling overwhelmed and on the brink of tears. The thought of another busy season, followed by corporate compliance season in the fall, is daunting. After 15 years in the profession, I am exhausted and burnt out. Working late nights and weekends has taken a toll on me, and I’m missing out on precious time with my 3-year-old daughter. I don’t want her to see me as “the mom that always works.”

It seems like the average person works a 40-hour work week or even less, and I long for that kind of work-life balance. I dream of the day when I can achieve that. I know it’s possible, I just need to figure out how to make it happen.

  1. It sounds like you are going through a really difficult time and feeling overwhelmed with your current workload. It’s completely normal to feel burnt out, especially after 15 years in a demanding profession like Accounting. It’s important to remember that your well-being and mental health should always come first.

It might be helpful to start by talking to your supervisor or HR department about your workload and how you are feeling. They may be able to offer some support or help you come up with a plan to manage your workload more effectively. It’s also important to set boundaries for yourself – try to prioritize tasks and delegate when possible, and make sure you are taking breaks and taking care of yourself both physically and mentally.

It’s also worth considering looking for new job opportunities where you can have a better work-life balance. There are plenty of companies out there that prioritize their employees’ well-being and offer more flexible working arrangements.

Remember that it’s okay to ask for help and prioritize your own well-being. You deserve to have a fulfilling career and a healthy work-life balance. Take care of yourself and know that things will get better.
