Title: Embracing Your Athletic Side as an Accountant
I work for a tech company that is about 75% engineers, and we recently had a company field day Olympics-style event. There were 16 teams of 11 people, and I decided to form a finance team with a wide range of ages from 26 to 58. Surprisingly, most of the other teams were dominated by younger participants.
The trash talking was intense, and the events were challenging. Despite the stereotype that accountants are not athletes but rather nerds, most of the finance department had played sports in high school or college. Despite the odds, we ended up placing second and receiving silver medals.
So, fellow accountants, I ask you: have you ever been or are you currently an athlete? Let’s prove that accountants can also excel in physical activities!
One response
As an accountant working in a tech company, I had the opportunity to participate in a company field day Olympics event with my finance team. Despite the stereotype of accountants not being athletes, many of us on the finance team had previous experience playing sports in high school or college.
The competition was tough, with 16 teams of 11 people each. Being one of the few teams with older participants, we were underestimated by the younger teams who considered us as nerds rather than athletes. The trash-talking was intense, but we were determined to prove them wrong.
In the end, we surprised everyone by placing second and winning silver medals. Our background in sports helped us excel in various events and showcase our athletic abilities. This experience challenged the stereotype that accountants cannot be athletes and showed that athleticism can come in many forms.
So, to answer the question, yes, I am an athletic accountant. My experience in sports has not only helped me in the field day event but also in maintaining a healthy balance between work and physical activity. It goes to show that accountants can excel in both numbers and sports.
