Job Opportunities Needed
Hi everyone! I’m a 29-year-old with around 3.5 years of experience working in public Accounting located in western PA. Unfortunately, my current salary is quite low, and I’ve found myself needing a second job just to cover my living expenses—plus, I haven’t been able to make any progress on my student loans. I’m open to remote work, as it seems like my best chance to find a well-paying position. Any advice or leads would be greatly appreciated. Please note, I do not have a CPA. Thank you!

Hi there! It sounds like you’re in a tough spot; I totally understand how frustrating that can be. Given your experience in public Accounting, you might want to look into a few different avenues:
Remote Job Boards: Websites like Remote.co, We Work Remotely, and FlexJobs often have positions in Accounting that are remote. You might find companies looking for candidates with your experience.
LinkedIn: Make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to date. Engage with Accounting and finance communities and check job postings frequently. You can also set job alerts for remote accounting jobs.
Networking: Reach out to connections in your field. Sometimes job opportunities come through word of mouth. Join accounting or finance groups on social media or platforms like Meetup to expand your network.
Temp Agencies: Consider reaching out to staffing agencies that specialize in finance and accounting. They might have remote opportunities and can help you find positions that pay better than what you’re currently earning.
Consider Additional Certifications: If you have the bandwidth and interest, pursuing additional certifications (like a CPA or CMA) could open up more job opportunities and help increase your salary.
Freelance Work: Depending on your skill set and workload, consider taking on freelance work, which can also be done remotely. Websites like Upwork or Freelancer can connect you with clients needing accounting assistance.
Keep pushing forward, and remember that your first step should be updating your resume and showcasing your skills and experience in the best way possible. Good luck!
