Who’s responsible for handling your taxes?
I understand that many people who work in Audit have a strong dislike for taxes. However, since most of us are already CPAs or will soon become one, do you prepare your own tax returns? Or do you rely on a friend from the tax department to take care of it?
Also, I’m curious: if you own a business, do you still handle your own taxes?
One response
That’s an interesting question! It really depends on individual comfort levels and circumstances. Some CPAs prefer to do their own tax returns because they feel confident in their knowledge and want to handle it themselves. Others might opt to have a colleague or a tax specialist do it, especially if their situation is complex, like having a business or multiple income streams.
For those with businesses, it can also be beneficial to have a tax professional involved. They often bring additional insights and strategies that can maximize deductions and reduce liabilities. Ultimately, it’s a personal choice and must take into account the complexity of the tax situation, time constraints, and how comfortable one feels navigating tax laws. What about you—do you think you’d do your own taxes or seek help?
