Who does your taxes?

Who handles your taxes?

I know many people in audits have a strong dislike for taxes, but as aspiring CPAs, do you prepare your own tax returns? Or do you have a friend in the tax field take care of it for you?

Also, if you own a business, do you still manage your own taxes?

  1. Great question! Many CPAs choose to do their own tax returns, especially if they have a straightforward financial situation. It can be a good way to keep up with the tax laws and practices, and it’s often a practical choice if you’re comfortable with the process.

However, for those with more complex financial situations—like owning a business—it’s common to seek help from a colleague specializing in tax. They can provide insights and ensure you’re taking advantage of all available deductions and credits. Additionally, having a fresh set of eyes on your financials can help avoid any potential issues.

Ultimately, it depends on your comfort level, the complexity of your finances, and whether you want to invest the time in doing your own taxes or leverage the expertise of someone else. What about others in the group? Do you find it easier to collaborate or handle it on your own?
