Which Subject Should I Take First? Need Advice on Exam Pairing

Subject: Seeking Advice on ACCA Exam Pairing

Hi everyone,

I’m currently strategizing my ACCA exam schedule and would greatly appreciate your input. I have received exemptions for all Knowledge Level papers, along with TX and LW. My goal is to take one exam in June and then two exams each quarter afterwards.

I’m thinking about beginning with FR—but I’m wondering if it would be feasible to take AA and PM/FM together afterward. Alternatively, should I start with PM first and then take both FR and AA at the same time?

I would love to hear your experiences and any recommendations on the best approach. If you think neither of these options is ideal, what strategy would you suggest?

Thank you for your help! 😊

  1. Hi there!

Congrats on your progress with the ACCA exams and your strategy! It sounds like you’ve got a solid plan going. Given your exemptions, you have some flexibility with your choices.

Starting with FR is a great choice, as it offers a strong foundation for the other papers. After FR, pairing AA and PM/FM can be a good approach because both subjects have some overlap in content, particularly through the financial principles. However, tackling two at the same time can be challenging, especially if you’re newer to the exam format or the content.

Alternatively, if you start with PM, it might ease your load when you take FR and AA together afterward, as PM goes hand-in-hand with the financial principles you’ll revisit in FR and AA. This way, you’ll build on your knowledge in a more interconnected way.

Ultimately, the best approach depends on your learning style and study habits. If you feel confident managing the content and time, going with the first option (FR followed by AA and PM/FM) could be viable. However, if you prefer to digest subjects more slowly, the second option might be better.

Whichever route you choose, make sure to give yourself enough time for revision and practice exams. Best of luck with your ACCA journey! You’ve got this! 😊
