Which paper should I choose to study alongside SBL?
I was planning to focus on SBL for the June exam, but after browsing through this subreddit, I keep coming across comments suggesting that all you need are Hassan Dossani’s videos and some practice. Some users even claim they managed to prepare in just a week.
To be honest, I’ve taken nine ACCA exams, and I’ve never found it that easy. Even after three months of preparation, I’ve often felt it wasn’t sufficient. I really hope that’s not the case for SBL.
If it genuinely is manageable, I don’t want to devote all my time to just one paper. I’d prefer to study another subject alongside it. Any recommendations for a paper to pair with SBL?

It’s great to hear that you’re considering SBL! While many people have found success with Hassan Dossani’s videos and some focused practice, it’s important to remember that everyone’s study habits and experiences can vary significantly. Given your previous experience with ACCA exams, it’s completely understandable to approach this with caution.
SBL is indeed a demanding paper since it integrates various topics and requires a strong understanding of strategic business management and leadership skills. It’s wise to allocate enough time to grasp the concepts thoroughly, especially if you’re used to a longer study preparation.
If you’re looking to pair SBL with another paper, it can be beneficial to choose one that complements the skills you’ll develop in SBL. A common choice is to take SBR (Strategic Business Reporting) alongside SBL because they both build on similar knowledge areas, and the skills you develop in SBL may help you in tackling SBR’s case studies.
Alternatively, you could consider taking a more technical paper, like AFM (Advanced Financial Management) or APM (Advanced Performance Management), if you’re aiming to diversify your study experience and challenge yourself further.
Ultimately, choose a combination that suits your studying style and confidence level. Just ensure that you feel comfortable managing your time and that you can dedicate a sufficient amount of effort to both papers. Good luck!
