Finding the Best Simple Bookkeeping Software for Independent Contractors
As a self-employed independent contractor under an LLC tax structure, managing finances can often feel overwhelming. With minimal expenses and the straightforward nature of receiving monthly 1099 income, you might find yourself seeking a Bookkeeping solution that aligns perfectly with your needs.
I provide healthcare services as a 1099 independent contractor and handle payroll for myself using Gusto. However, when it comes to Bookkeeping, I want a solution that is not only uncomplicated but also user-friendly for my accountant. Unfortunately, options like QuickBooks have proven to be too complex and costly for my situation.
My financial landscape mainly consists of receiving 1099s from the facilities I work with, coupled with some straightforward business expenses. There’s no need for features such as invoicing, inventory management, or time tracking—just the essentials.
Features I’m Looking For
-
Affordability: I’m on the lookout for a budget-friendly solution that doesn’t come with the $35 monthly fee that services like QuickBooks Simple Start charge.
-
Mobile Accessibility: Ideally, I would like a platform that I can manage almost entirely through an iOS app, allowing me to keep track of my finances on the go.
-
Integration with Accounts: It would be beneficial to have a system that seamlessly links to my bank and credit card accounts, streamlining how transactions flow into the software.
Currently, I’m considering two potential options: Wave and Zoho Books. Both seem to offer the simplicity and functionality I require, but I am yet to decide which one would best suit my needs.
If you have insights or recommendations on bookkeeping software that is tailored for independent contractors, especially those with a focus on simplicity and cost-effectiveness, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you!
