Simplifying Bookkeeping for Self-Employed Independent Contractors: Finding the Right Software
As a self-employed independent contractor operating under an LLC taxed as an S-Corporation, managing Bookkeeping can sometimes feel overwhelming—especially when your needs are quite straightforward. In my case, I provide healthcare services and mainly deal with 1099 compensation and a handful of business expenses.
While I do run payroll for myself through Gusto, I’m on the lookout for a user-friendly Bookkeeping solution that doesn’t complicate matters further. Programs like QuickBooks often offer far more features than I actually require, making them excessive for my situation. My focus is solely on tracking income from 1099s and a few business expenses. I have no need for invoicing, inventory management, or time-tracking functions.
The Search for an Affordable, Simple Solution
I’m particularly interested in finding a straightforward, budget-friendly bookkeeping software option that doesn’t cost upwards of $35 a month—like QuickBooks Simple Start. Ideally, I’d like a platform that provides an intuitive experience primarily through an iOS app, allowing me to manage most tasks on my mobile device. Furthermore, it would be a great advantage to link my bank and credit card accounts, ensuring a seamless process for transaction import.
Currently, I’m weighing the features of Wave against Zoho Books. Both platforms seem to cater to my basic bookkeeping needs while remaining cost-effective alternatives to heavier Accounting Software.
If you’re in a similar situation or have recommendations based on your experiences, your insights would be greatly appreciated! Let’s simplify our bookkeeping journeys together. Thank you!
