What’s the most simple bookkeeping software for a self-employed independent contractor (LLC taxed as s-corp)? All I have are (few) expenses and monthly 1099 compensation.

Finding the Ideal Bookkeeping Software for Self-Employed Independent Contractors

As a self-employed independent contractor operating as an LLC taxed as an S-Corp, choosing the right Bookkeeping software can significantly streamline your financial management. If you primarily manage a few expenses and handle monthly 1099 compensation, you’ll want a solution that is straightforward yet effective.

In my case, I provide healthcare services and pay myself through Gusto, which further emphasizes my need for simplicity in Bookkeeping. I rely on 1099 forms received from the facilities I contract with, alongside minimal business expenses. This means I do not require complex features such as inventory management, invoicing, or time tracking.

An ideal bookkeeping tool for my situation needs to be basic, cost-effective, and easy to navigate, rather than overwhelming—like QuickBooks, which I find to be more than I need at $35 per month for their Simple Start plan.

Moreover, since I mainly operate from my mobile device, I prefer software that offers a robust iOS app. It is essential that my chosen platform allows for effortless integration with my bank and credit card accounts, enabling a seamless flow of transactions into the software.

At present, I am exploring Wave and Zoho Books to see which aligns more closely with my requirements. Both options seem promising for their user-friendly interfaces and affordability.

If you are in a similar situation and have insights or recommendations, I would love to hear your thoughts! What has worked best for you as a self-employed independent contractor?
