What’s the most simple bookkeeping software for a self-employed independent contractor (LLC taxed as s-corp)? All I have are (few) expenses and monthly 1099 compensation.

Finding the Right Bookkeeping Software: A Guide for Independent Contractors

As an independent contractor managing a Limited Liability Company (LLC) that is taxed as an S-Corporation, it’s essential to have a straightforward and effective Bookkeeping solution. If you’re like many self-employed professionals in the healthcare sector, you might find yourself navigating numerous 1099 forms and business expenses without the complexity of traditional Accounting needs.

I currently provide healthcare services as a 1099 contractor and handle my payroll through Gusto. My financial situation is relatively uncomplicated, consisting primarily of 1099 income from the facilities I work with and a few business-related expenses. I’m on the lookout for Bookkeeping software that simplifies my financial management without overwhelming me with features I don’t need, like inventory management or extensive invoicing capabilities.

The challenge I face is finding an affordable and user-friendly option. QuickBooks, while a well-known name in Accounting Software, offers far more functionality than I require, and at a cost of $35 per month for QuickBooks Simple Start, it feels like an overinvestment for my bookkeeping needs.

Ideally, I’m seeking a tool that can be easily operated from my iOS device and can seamlessly integrate with my bank and credit card accounts for automatic transaction imports. This would not only save me time but also minimize the handling of manual entries.

At the moment, I’m considering two popular options: Wave and Zoho Books. Both seem to offer the simplicity I need, but I am still weighing their features.

If you are in a similar situation and have found success with a specific bookkeeping tool, your recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I’m eager to simplify my bookkeeping process and ensure it meets the needs of my accountant while remaining within a reasonable budget.

Thank you for your insights!
