What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever received a document from a client?

The Most Unconventional Document Submissions: Share Your Stories!

In the world of client communications, we often encounter unexpected, and sometimes bewildering, methods of document submission. As professionals, we rely on clear and efficient communication—yet, time and again, we receive documents in formats that make us scratch our heads.

I’d like to kick things off with a memorable experience: I once received a snapshot of a PDF displayed on an iPad, taken with a Samsung phone, and subsequently emailed to me. To add to the challenge, we still had to manually process this invoice afterward. Talk about a convoluted way to send a document!

I’m curious to know—what’s the most bizarre or perplexing way you’ve ever received a document from a client? Perhaps you’ve encountered handwritten notes that were barely legible, or maybe you’ve been sent upside-down scans of important papers. I’ve seen files renamed to generic titles like “Image(345).jpg,” which really makes you wonder about the content of the file!

I’m collecting these stories while I work on a solution that aims to streamline this often chaotic aspect of our jobs. No sales pitch here—just an invitation to share your experiences. I’d love to hear that I’m not alone in this wild world of document submissions!
