What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever received a document from a client?

The Most Unconventional Document Submissions: A Call for Your Stories

In the world of client communications and document submissions, we often come across some peculiar scenarios. I’m reaching out to you today to share a particularly memorable—and somewhat bizarre—experience I had and to hear your stories as well.

Allow me to set the stage: I once received a document from a client that left me both amused and bewildered. Instead of sending a straightforward PDF attachment, they opted for a rather convoluted approach. They sent me a photograph of a PDF displayed on their iPad, but here’s the kicker—it was taken using a Samsung phone and then emailed to me.

As you can imagine, this resulted in additional complications, as we had to manually process that invoice, which should have been a simple task.

This experience got me thinking: what are some of the most unusual or challenging document submissions you’ve encountered in your professional life? Perhaps you’ve received handwritten notes that required deciphering, upside-down scans that left you scratching your head, or files with names like “Image(345).jpg” that provided no context.

I’m collecting these stories as a part of my ongoing efforts to develop a solution that eases the chaos often associated with document management. I’m not promoting any product—just seeking to find some camaraderie among those of us navigating the sometimes quirky waters of client documentation.

So, what strange, funny, or frustrating document submissions have you experienced? I look forward to reading your responses and discovering that many of us share these unique challenges. Let’s commiserate together!
