What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever received a document from a client?

Bizarre Document Submissions: Share Your Experiences

In the realm of client communications, we often find ourselves navigating through a variety of document formats. Yet, some submissions truly stand out for their unconventionality.

I’d like to kick off this conversation with my own amusing experience. A client once sent me a photograph of a PDF that they were viewing on an iPad, captured using a Samsung phone, and then emailed that image. Not surprisingly, we still had to manually process the invoice from that submission.

Now, I’m curious to learn about your own experiences. What’s the strangest or most challenging document submission you’ve encountered? Have you ever received handwritten notes, upside-down scans, or files ominously titled “Image(345).jpg”?

I’m gathering these stories as part of a project aimed at addressing some of the chaos that often accompanies document exchanges. This isn’t a pitch, just a way to connect and share in the experiences that many of us face in our professional lives. Let’s unite over these amusing anecdotes and illustrate just how creative (or confusing) document submission can be!
