What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever received a document from a client?

The Most Unconventional Ways Clients Submit Documents: Share Your Stories!

In the world of freelancing and client-based work, few things are more distinctive than the creative ways clients deliver documents. While we appreciate the effort, sometimes the methods leave much to be desired.

One particularly memorable instance involved a client who sent me a snapshot of a PDF displayed on their iPad. To add a layer of complexity, this photo was taken with a Samsung phone and then emailed to me. As you can imagine, we ended up having to process that invoice manually, turning a straightforward task into quite the ordeal.

This experience got me thinking: what are some of the most unusual or perplexing document submissions you’ve encountered? Have you received handwritten notes that were nearly illegible? Or perhaps you’ve come across upside-down scans or files saved as “Image(345).jpg”?

I invite you to share your amusing or baffling document submission stories. I’m gathering tales like these for a project aimed at addressing the chaos that often accompanies document handling in our industry. I hope to discover that I’m not the only one who has faced such absurdity!

Let’s connect and commiserate! Your experiences might just inspire changes that can help streamline our processes, making our work a bit smoother in the future.
