What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever received a document from a client?

The Unexpected Ways We Receive Documents: Share Your Stories

In the world of client relationships, document submissions can sometimes take a turn for the bizarre. It’s amazing to think about the myriad of ways that clients attempt to send us important files, often leading to confusion and extra work on our end.

Take, for instance, one particularly memorable experience: a client once sent me a photograph of a PDF displayed on their iPad. To make it even more unique, the photo was taken with a Samsung phone and then emailed over. As a result, we were left to manually process that invoice, which was anything but efficient.

This incident sparked a thought—what are some of the most unusual or frustrating document submissions you’ve encountered in your professional life? Perhaps you’ve received a handwritten note, an upside-down scan of a contract, or a file named something like “Image(345).jpg.” The creativity is endless!

I’m currently gathering stories for a project aimed at streamlining document submissions, and I’d love to hear from others in the field. It’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one dealing with such chaos. So, what’s your story? Join the conversation and let’s share our experiences!
