What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever received a document from a client?

The Most Unconventional Document Submissions: A Call for Your Stories

In the world of freelancing and client relationships, we often find ourselves on the receiving end of some peculiar document submissions. Whether it’s an invoice, a contract, or a brief, the way clients choose to send their files can sometimes border on the absurd, leaving us both amused and perplexed.

I’d like to share my own experience: There was a time when a client decided to send me a snapshot of a PDF displayed on their iPad, captured using their Samsung phone, and emailed to me. To make matters worse, we still had to manually process that invoice!

This got me thinking—what are some of the strangest or most frustrating document submissions you’ve encountered in your professional journey? Have you ever received something handwritten, an upside-down scan, or perhaps a file named “Image(345).jpg”? I’m sure there are plenty of stories out there that would make for some entertaining reading.

I’m interested in gathering experiences like these while I work on a solution aimed at reducing the chaos in document submissions. This isn’t a sales pitch, but rather a way to connect with fellow professionals and reassure each other that we’re not navigating this quirky landscape alone.

So, what’s your story? Join the conversation and share your experiences with document submissions that left you scratching your head.
