What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever received a document from a client?

The Most Unconventional Document Submissions: A Call for Stories

In the world of client communications, receipt of documents often veers into territory that is both bizarre and frustrating. As professionals, we pride ourselves on our ability to adapt and navigate various challenges, but some document submissions truly leave us scratching our heads.

Allow me to share a memorable experience: one of my clients once sent me an image of a PDF displayed on their iPad, but here’s the kicker—it was taken with a Samsung phone. To top it all off, this unique interpretation of document sharing was emailed directly to me. As you can imagine, this led to the need for a manual processing of the invoice, which was quite the task.

Now, I want to open the floor to all of you fellow professionals out there. What’s the most perplexing or downright absurd way you’ve received documentation from clients?

Think about submissions like handwritten notes, upside-down scans, or files named something like “Image(345).jpg.” The range of creativity is often astounding!

I’m gathering these anecdotes to understand that many of us face similar challenges in the tumultuous world of document management. Rest assured, I’m not pushing any services or solutions—I’m simply looking to connect over our shared experiences and perhaps find comfort in the collective chaos we sometimes encounter in our work.

So, let’s share our stories and commiserate over the quirks of client communications. What’s your wild document submission tale?
