VITA for 1040NR Help
I’m looking for assistance with filing a 1040NR. Are there any accountants who offer free help? I’ve been searching for international tax professionals in Pennsylvania, but their fees are quite high. After earning just $10k last year, I really can’t afford to pay for tax services. Any guidance would be appreciated!

It can be tough to navigate tax filings, especially with the complexities of Form 1040NR. While many accountants charge for their services, there are often resources available to help you with tax preparation at low or no cost.
VITA Program: The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who qualify, including those with a low income or who have limited English proficiency. You can check if there are VITA sites in your area that can assist with 1040NR filings.
Local Universities: Some universities with Accounting or tax programs may offer free tax preparation services as part of their students’ training. You could check with local schools to see if they have any such programs.
Nonprofit Organizations: Look for nonprofit organizations that specialize in assisting immigrants and international students. They might have resources or volunteers who can help you with your tax return.
Online Resources: There are many online platforms and software that can assist with filing Form 1040NR. Some may offer free options for simple returns, so it’s worth checking them out.
Tax Clinics: Some communities have tax clinics specifically for non-residents or international students. Research local options that might fit your needs.
If you reach out to these resources, you might find someone who can help you without adding to your financial burden. Good luck!
