Sure, I’d be happy to share my experience with networking as a finance major.
My first job out of college was as a financial analyst at a mid-sized investment firm. My starting income was around $50,000 per year. I was able to secure this job through networking with alumni from my university who worked in the finance industry. They were able to introduce me to hiring managers and provide valuable recommendations for me during the interview process.
Currently, I am working as a senior financial analyst at a larger financial services company, and my income has nearly doubled since my first job. Networking played a crucial role in helping me advance my career and land higher-paying opportunities.
My university was not one of the top-ranked schools for finance, but I was able to leverage the connections I made through networking to overcome this challenge. Networking allowed me to meet professionals in the industry, build relationships, and ultimately advance my career in finance.
Regardless of your salary level, networking can be a valuable tool for career advancement in the finance industry. I encourage everyone to actively network and build relationships within their field, as it can lead to new opportunities and help you achieve your career goals.
