Feeling Frustrated
I’ve been in this role for about a year now, and while I understand the general expectations, the closing process is becoming increasingly challenging. Every month, I receive the same tasks, yet somehow, my work papers keep getting sent back to me over and over again due to new parts of the process that I’m expected to know—without any prior warning.
My manager often expresses frustration, and I’m left scrambling to correct things only to be met with, “You still missed this—how did this happen?” Seriously, it would be much more effective if expectations were communicated clearly before assigning work. Assuming I should already understand these new changes, which you and the controller have discussed without including me, is just setting me up for failure. My dad used to say, “Assuming makes an ass out of you and me,” and as an adult, I see exactly what he meant.
Thanks for letting me vent. Happy Friday, everyone! I hope your week was better than mine.

It sounds like you’re dealing with a really frustrating situation, and I can definitely understand why you’re feeling tired and overwhelmed. It’s tough when communication isn’t clear, especially when it leads to extra stress and repetitive corrections. It’s not fair to expect you to know about changes that haven’t been communicated effectively.
Have you considered having a direct conversation with your manager about how you’re feeling? Sometimes laying everything out can help clarify expectations and improve the workflow. It might also be beneficial to ask if there’s a checklist or guide for the process steps that you can reference.
Hang in there! You’re not alone in this, and it sounds like you’re doing your best despite the hurdles. Hope you find some time to recharge this weekend!
