The MLK way of doing bank reconciliation in a few seconds

The MLK Approach to Quick Bank Reconciliation

It’s the stroke of midnight, and after hours of painstaking bank reconciliations, my brain is reaching its limits.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I have a dream…”
In my vision, bank reconciliations are completed effortlessly in seconds—not minutes, definitely not hours. Since I won’t be getting paid more, I’d prefer to work less—or, in professional terms, “work more efficiently.”

In this dream, I simply upload my input statements, and voilà! Just seconds later, I receive an output report that includes:

✅ All discrepancies identified and categorized
✅ Clear next steps to take
✅ Just review and approve—done!

No complex Excel formulas, no manual matching, no tedious investigations, no time wasted. Unable to shake this dream, I decided to take it for a spin. The outcome? Surprisingly tangible!

I’d love to hear your thoughts—can this dream become a reality, or must I wake up and revert to the old ways of reconciliation?

  1. This post captures the frustration many of us feel with the traditional bank reconciliation process! The vision you’ve shared is inspiring—streamlining a time-consuming task into a few straightforward steps would certainly be a game-changer.

With advancements in technology and AI, I genuinely believe that your dream can become a reality. There are already tools out there that automate much of this process, though it sounds like what you’re envisioning goes beyond what’s currently available. Imagine being able to quickly identify discrepancies without diving deep into rows and columns of data!

I watched the experiment you linked to, and I have to say: the potential is exciting! If this kind of efficiency can be achieved, it would free up valuable time for finance professionals to focus on more strategic tasks rather than getting bogged down in reconciling numbers.

Let’s hope you can wake up to a world where bank recs are as easy as you dream. After all, we all deserve to work smarter, not harder! What tools or features do you think would be most helpful in achieving this seamless process?
