Stop Putting This In Your CV’S

Stop Including This in Your CVs

I’ve reviewed countless CVs, and one common mistake I see is the inclusion of a career objective. You can skip it! Most hiring managers don’t pay attention to these statements. They’re often clichéd and, frankly, a bit cringeworthy.

It’s clear to everyone that you don’t really mean it. If you’re applying for an articleship, it’s already understood that you want to put your knowledge into practice.

This is an important message for the entire CA Articleship community: you’re better off omitting a generic objective altogether. In fact, it may improve your chances of being hired.

P.S. No offense intended to the person whose CV I referenced!

  1. I completely understand your perspective! Career objectives often feel like empty statements that don’t add much value to a CV, especially in fields where it’s clear why you’re applying. Instead, focusing on specific skills, relevant experiences, and contributions you can make to the firm can make a stronger impact. It’s all about showcasing what sets you apart in a way that resonates with hiring managers. Thank you for sharing this insight with the CA Articleship community! Let’s encourage candidates to be more authentic and strategic in their applications.
