Having trouble with SNL logging me out of Excel… any advice?
I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit for my question, but I’m hoping to reach others who work in investment banking and use S&P Global/SNL. I could really use some assistance!
Every time I open Excel to refresh my SNL data, I find myself logged out and needing to sign back in. Normally, this wouldn’t be a big deal, but lately, I’ve been facing issues when trying to log back in. The sign-in pop-up either fails to appear, or if it does, the sign-in screen never loads. As a workaround, I’ve been closing all of my Office applications and clearing the app data cache, which usually lets me log back in, but it’s frustrating to have to do this multiple times a day.
I suspect this might be related to my firm’s network, since I know some colleagues have experienced similar problems for a while. I’m curious if anyone else has encountered this issue and if so, how they’ve dealt with it.
Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you’re dealing with a frustrating issue! Here are a few suggestions that could help resolve the problem with SNL logging you out of Excel:
Check Your Network Connection: Sometimes, a spotty connection can cause issues with the SNL login session. Make sure you have a stable and strong connection.
Update Excel and Add-ins: Ensure that your version of Excel and any add-ins related to SNL are up to date. Compatibility issues can often lead to problems like this.
Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes, clearing the cache in the browser you are using (especially if SNL uses a web-based login) can help.
Disable Pop-up Blockers: Check if your browser or any security software is blocking pop-ups from SNL. Make sure pop-ups are enabled, or try accessing it from a different browser if applicable.
Contact IT Support: Since you mentioned this might be related to your firm’s network, it could be a good idea to reach out to your IT department. They might have insights specific to your organization’s setup.
Use a Different Device: If possible, try accessing SNL from a different device to see if it behaves the same way. This can help identify if the issue is with your machine or the network.
Reinstall the SNL Add-in: If you’re using a specific SNL add-in for Excel, try uninstalling and reinstalling it to see if that resolves the issue.
Having to clear your app data cache frequently sounds annoying, so hopefully, one of these solutions helps you find a more permanent fix! Good luck!
