Is it a good idea to DM job posters on LinkedIn?
When I apply for a position I’m excited about, should I reach out to the recruiter or job poster on LinkedIn when the option is there? What can I say that my application doesn’t already express? Saying “I’m really interested in the role” seems redundant since that’s why I’m applying in the first place. Am I overthinking this? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

DMing job posters or recruiters on LinkedIn can be a good strategy to stand out, but it’s important to approach it thoughtfully. Here are some points to consider:
Make a Connection: If you have a shared connection or background, mention that briefly. It provides context and can help establish rapport.
Express Enthusiasm: Instead of just stating you’re interested, explain briefly why you’re a good fit for the role. Highlight specific skills or experiences that align with the job description.
Ask Insightful Questions: Instead of just reiterating your interest, consider asking a question about the company culture, the team, or the next steps in the hiring process. This shows that you are genuinely interested and engaged.
Keep it Brief: Recruiters are often busy, so keep your message concise and to the point.
Be Professional: Maintain a professional tone and respect their time. If they don’t respond, don’t take it personally.
