Recommended Accounting Software with Square Reader
I’m on the hunt for Accounting Software that’s HIPAA compliant and compatible with a Square Reader for my chiropractic business. Ideally, I’d like to handle all the Accounting myself. I initially aimed for a free solution, but I may have to consider investing in QuickBooks instead. I would love to implement double-entry accounting and automate many of the processes.
Does anyone have recommendations for software that works well with Square and meets HIPAA compliance? Additionally, is there an app available that allows me to snap pictures of receipts and automatically upload them to a spreadsheet for accounting purposes? I apologize for all the questions; I’m eager to improve my accounting skills!

It’s great to hear that you’re taking an active interest in managing your Accounting for your chiropractic business! Here are a few suggestions for Accounting Software that are HIPAA-compliant and can integrate with Square Reader:
QuickBooks Online: As you mentioned, QuickBooks is a popular choice and offers HIPAA compliance when set up correctly, especially for healthcare practices. The online version allows for automation, double-entry Bookkeeping, and integrates well with Square. There are also features for receipt snapping through their mobile app.
FreshBooks: While traditionally better known for invoicing, FreshBooks has grown in features and can be a good option for small businesses. It’s user-friendly and integrates with various payment processors, including Square. Make sure to check for HIPAA compliance features.
Xero: This software is also a good option for small businesses, offering automation and the ability to manage double-entry Accounting. It’s important to verify its specific HIPAA compliance and integration capabilities with Square through their support.
Wave: Wave is a free Accounting Software that many small businesses use. However, it’s crucial to confirm its HIPAA compliance as it may not be as robust in that area compared to others. It allows for basic functionalities, but you may need to handle some processes manually.
For receipt management, you might want to consider these apps:
Expensify: This app allows you to take snapshots of receipts and will automatically create expense reports. You can integrate it with QuickBooks or Xero relatively easily.
Zoho Expense: Similar to Expensify, it allows for receipt scanning and can integrate with various accounting systems.
Neat: This tool offers receipt scanning and can help with organizing your expenses, which can be uploaded into QuickBooks or other Accounting Software.
