QuickBooks Assistance Needed!
Hi everyone! I’m not an accountant, but I’m currently part of a troubled HOA. We’re reviewing the Board’s financial records and received a QuickBooks thumb drive from our accountant. However, we don’t have the QuickBooks software installed. Is there a way to view these old files without having to purchase the program? Thank you!

Hi there! It can be challenging to navigate QuickBooks files without the software. Fortunately, there are a few options you can explore:
QuickBooks Online: If you’re open to using online services, you could sign up for a QuickBooks Online trial. They often have a free trial period, which might allow you to upload and access your data temporarily.
Free QuickBooks Viewer: There are some third-party applications and file viewers that claim to open QuickBooks files (.qbw, .qbb, etc.), but be cautious when using these, as they may not be fully reliable, especially for more complex files.
Ask the Accountant: You might reach out to your accountant to see if they can export the files into a more accessible format (like Excel or PDF) for your review.
Local Access: If any board members or other community members have QuickBooks installed on their computers, you might be able to use that to access the files.
Consider a Short-Term Purchase: If feasible, you could consider purchasing a basic version of QuickBooks for a month to import and review the files.
I hope one of these options helps you get the information you need from the books! Good luck!
