Intern Compensation in Public Accounting
We currently offer our first-year interns a starting rate of $27, which increases to $29. However, an intern candidate recently informed us that she received an offer of $31.
I’m curious—what are you all paying your interns? It might be time for us to reassess our rates!
Thanks!

It sounds like you’re facing some competitive pressure with intern salaries! It’s becoming increasingly common for firms to offer higher rates, especially in public Accounting. Many firms are now paying interns in the range of $30 to $35 depending on location and market demand.
It’s definitely worth considering a reevaluation of your rates if you want to attract top talent. Not only salary, but also benefits, work environment, and opportunities for growth can make a difference. Good luck!
