As someone who obtained a Masters in finance degree and pursued a career in corporate finance and FP&A, I can provide some insight into my experience and current role.
My experience obtaining a Masters in finance degree was extremely valuable. It provided me with a solid foundation in financial theory and analysis, as well as practical skills in areas such as financial modeling, risk management, and investment analysis. Additionally, the networking opportunities and connections I made during my program were instrumental in helping me secure internships and job opportunities after graduation.
Currently, I am working as a Financial Analyst at a large corporation where I am responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning and analysis. My day-to-day tasks include analyzing financial data, preparing reports for senior management, and providing strategic recommendations to help drive business decisions.
While roles in IB/PE/Consulting are often glorified, there are many rewarding career opportunities in corporate finance and FP&A as well. These roles offer a robust and stable career path, with opportunities for advancement and growth within organizations.
For individuals considering a career in corporate finance and FP&A, I would recommend networking with professionals in the field, gaining practical experience through internships and volunteer opportunities, and continuing to expand your knowledge and skills through professional development courses and certifications. The field of corporate finance offers a wide range of opportunities for those with a Masters in Finance degree, and it can be a fulfilling and rewarding career path for those who are interested in financial analysis and strategy.
