Overcoming Obstacles in Transitioning to Public Accounting: Seeking Guidance
Hello everyone,
I am excited to share that I have recently completed all sections of the CPA exam and have earned 150 credit hours! My professional journey includes experience as both a Financial Analyst and Operations Analyst within the logistics sector, where I honed my skills in data management, analysis, and reporting. I am adept at utilizing tools like Excel and Power BI to draw insights from data.
Having made the decision to transition into public Accounting as part of my longer-term goal to establish myself in the U.S. (currently residing in Texas), I have encountered a significant challenge: breaking into the industry.
Unfortunately, many Accounting firms seem to have specific requirements, such as:
- A U.S.-recognized accounting degree
- At least one year of public accounting experience
As I don’t meet these criteria, it has become increasingly difficult to secure interviews. I am open to various opportunities, including positions that start around $60K, and I would even consider relocating to broaden my options. Given my current circumstances, pursuing a master’s program isn’t feasible, as I have a dependent relying on my support.
I am reaching out to this community for insights and strategies. If you have navigated a similar career shift or have any advice on how to enter the public accounting field without local credentials or prior experience, I would greatly appreciate your input. Your guidance could be invaluable in helping me overcome this hurdle. Thank you!
