Currently, I use [your software of choice, e.g., Adobe Acrobat, ABBYY FineReader, Tesseract, etc.] for OCR.
I primarily use OCR to get A. a transcript of the document (txt), as it allows for easier editing and manipulation of the text. However, I also create B. searchable PDFs when I need to preserve the formatting of the original document.
Overall, I’m quite satisfied with the accuracy and speed of the OCR. Most of the time, it delivers reliable results, but I sometimes have to make manual adjustments, especially with documents that are poorly scanned or contain unusual fonts.
I typically do batch OCR when I have a large number of documents to process; it saves a lot of time. However, for individual or special documents, I prefer to handle them one at a time to ensure higher precision.
