OBU Process Guidance Needed
Hello everyone,
I’m a fully qualified ACCA member and I’m facing some confusion regarding the OBU process. I’m unsure about how to kick things off and would appreciate any insights from those who have been through it.
Could anyone who has completed the process please help me with the following:
- What are the initial steps I should take?
- How much effort is typically required?
- In your opinion, was it worth pursuing?

Congrats on being a fully qualified ACCA member! The OBU (Oxford Brookes University) process can indeed be a bit overwhelming at first, but I’m happy to share my experience and provide some guidance.
First, you need to register for the OBU BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting degree. This involves filling out an application and paying the associated fee. Once registered, you’ll need to choose the right subject for your Research and Analysis Project (RAP). It’s important to review the detailed guidance and requirements on the OBU website, as they have helpful resources and a comprehensive guide for new students.
How much work did it need?
The workload can vary based on how familiar you are with the research process and report writing. On average, it can take several weeks to a couple of months to complete the RAP, largely depending on how much time you can dedicate each week. I found that developing a clear timeline and sticking to it helped immensely. You’ll need to conduct thorough research, analyze your findings, and prepare your report, which is usually around 7,500 words.
