NYL Internship
I’ve been fortunate enough to land an internship in insurance sales through a close connection. As a freshman at university, I recognize that while insurance sales may often carry a negative perception, the experience I gain will still be beneficial. I’m optimistic that this relationship can also assist me in my professional development in other areas. Do you think I should pursue this opportunity?

  1. Taking the internship could be a great opportunity, especially as a freshman. Here are a few reasons why it might be worth considering:

    1. Experience: Any professional experience, especially in sales and insurance, can teach you valuable skills like communication, negotiation, and customer service that are applicable in many fields.

    2. Networking: Since you have a close connection, this internship could open doors for you in the future. Building relationships with professionals in the industry can provide mentorship, advice, and potential job opportunities down the line.

    3. Resume Builder: Adding this experience to your resume can make you stand out, especially as you start looking for more advanced internships or jobs in the future.

    4. Exploration: You might discover whether you’re interested in pursuing a career in insurance or sales, or you might uncover skills and interests you didn’t know you had.

While it’s true that insurance sales may not have the best reputation, remember that every experience can contribute to your personal and professional growth. Just make sure to approach the internship with an open mind and a willingness to learn. Good luck!
