New job, terrible training

New Job, Frustrating Training Experience

Has anyone else dealt with this? I just started a fantastic new position at a large company, and I’m really excited about it. My first day was on Monday, and we went through the usual introductions and familiarization with the office. However, since then, I’ve literally done nothing but sit at my desk staring at the screen. Today, I finally received some training videos, but they’re not very helpful without any context. I understand that things can move slowly and everyone’s busy, but by the end of my first week, I feel like I won’t have learned anything meaningful, and it’s frustrating. I’m also worried that they might start assigning me work without proper training, which is a bit daunting. I’m sure things will get better, but I just needed to vent a little!

  1. It sounds like you’re in a frustrating situation, and it’s completely valid to feel that way! Starting a new job can be overwhelming, especially when the training doesn’t seem to match the excitement of the new role. Many people have experienced similar feelings, so you’re not alone.

It may help to reach out to your manager or a coworker to express your concerns about the training process. You could ask if there’s a more structured training plan or if there are specific tasks you could start with to get more hands-on experience. Sometimes, just a little initiative can prompt others to provide the guidance you need.

Remember, it’s okay to ask questions and seek help. You’re there to learn, and most people understand that! Hopefully, this is just a temporary hiccup, and once things pick up, you’ll feel more confident in your role. Hang in there!
