Need guidance for SBR

Seeking Guidance for SBR

Hello,

I recently completed my SBL exam and am now preparing for the SBR exam in June. I’m looking for recommendations for good tutors, especially since I’ve received exemptions for 9 papers. I reside in India and don’t speak Hindi, so English-speaking tutors would be ideal. I would also appreciate any study plan suggestions!

Thank you!

  1. Hi there!

Great to hear that you’re planning to study for SBR! Here are some suggestions to help you find good resources and create a study plan:

    Tutors:

    1. Online Platforms: Look into platforms like OpenTuition, ACCA Global, or Becker which offer quality resources and sometimes have recommended tutors.
    2. YouTube Channels: Check out channels like Joseph McGinty or Ashwin Bhadane for SBR-specific content and explanations—they often explain concepts in English.
    3. Local Tutors: Search for ACCA tuition providers in your area who can offer lessons in English. Many offer online classes, which can be convenient.

    Study Plan:

    1. Assess Your Knowledge: Spend a week understanding the SBR syllabus and identify your weak areas.

    2. Weekly Breakdown:

    3. Week 1-2: Focus on financial reporting standards (IFRS). Study one standard each day and practice questions.
    4. Week 3: Delve into group accounts and consolidations. Use past exam papers.
    5. Week 4: Study the analysis of financial statements and performance evaluation. Apply what you learn to real-world companies.
    6. Week 5: Focus on practical application. Solve case studies and work on mock exams.
    7. Week 6: Review all topics, focusing on your weak areas, and practice time management with exam simulations.

    8. Regular Revision: Set aside time each week to revise previous topics to reinforce your learning.

    9. Exam Techniques: Learn how to approach exam questions, including reading requirements carefully and structuring your answers effectively.

    10. Join Study Groups: If possible, connect with fellow students online for discussions and support.

    11. Official ACCA Resources: Utilize any study materials, webinars, and practice exams provided by ACCA to ensure you are aligned with the exam format.

Make sure to stay consistent and seek help whenever you feel stuck. Best of luck with your studies! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

    Thanks!
