A New Journey in Freelance Bookkeeping: Seeking Your Expertise
Exciting news! My wife is embarking on her journey as a freelance bookkeeper, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. After dedicating nearly two decades to various roles in Accounting and Bookkeeping, she’s ready to provide her services independently.
Her experience includes positions such as a staff accountant and supervisor, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees in a cable company, served as an office manager/bookkeeper for a real estate developer, and handled Bookkeeping for construction, painting, and auto mechanic businesses. With such a diverse background, she has developed a robust skill set.
Currently, she is finalizing her extensive knowledge of QuickBooks, completing all available certifications to enhance her credentials. Her professional website is nearly ready, and she has prepared an engagement letter and updated her resume, putting her in prime position to start reaching out to potential clients.
It’s important to note that she will not be providing tax services, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Her target market includes smaller, mid-sized, and newly established businesses that could benefit from a reliable and cost-effective bookkeeping solution. She excels at cleaning up disorganized financial records, preparing profit and loss statements and balance sheets, and identifying opportunities for cost savings with ease. Her focus on automation will further streamline the financial processes for her clients.
As we begin this new venture, our initial strategy involves connecting with local CPA firms. I would appreciate any insights from experienced freelance bookkeepers on the best way to approach these potential partners. Should we reach out via email, make a phone call, or perhaps consider a direct walk-in? Additionally, any suggestions on how to create a lasting first impression would be greatly valued.
We are planning to bill on an hourly basis, and I’m open to any further suggestions regarding client acquisition or general advice for a successful start.
Thank you for your support and insights as we navigate this exciting new chapter!
