Embarking on a New Freelancing Journey: Seeking Insights from Experienced Bookkeepers
As my wife prepares to launch her freelance Bookkeeping career, we find ourselves excited yet contemplative about the journey ahead. After dedicating 15 to 20 years to various roles in Accounting and Bookkeeping, she is ready to take the plunge and operate independently. Her extensive experience spans positions including staff accountant and Accounting supervisor—where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company—as well as office manager and bookkeeper for multiple industries including real estate development, construction, and automotive services.
With a solid background in QuickBooks and ongoing completion of pertinent certifications, her professional toolkit is robust. The development of her business website is nearing completion, and she has crafted an engagement letter and updated her resume, so she’s well on her way to attracting clients.
While she won’t be offering tax services, as she is not a CPA or EA, her focus will be on assisting small to mid-sized businesses and startups looking for an economical Bookkeeping solution. With a knack for tidying up messy financial records, managing profit and loss statements, and analyzing balance sheets, she’s committed to helping her clients streamline their operations through automation and cost-cutting strategies.
Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms, and we are eager to find the most effective way to make our first connection. Should we opt for an email introduction, make a phone call, or perhaps walk in directly? Any insights into how to make a positive first impression would be greatly appreciated.
Additionally, we are open to any further suggestions for attracting clients or general advice on establishing a successful freelance bookkeeping business. After all, every bit of guidance can help in this exciting new chapter.
Thank you for your support as we embark on this journey!
