Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Insights from Experienced Professionals
After years of dedicated service in various Accounting and Bookkeeping roles, my wife is excited to embark on her own journey as a freelance bookkeeper. With nearly two decades of experience under her belt, she’s ready to utilize her wealth of knowledge to help clients, particularly those in the small to mid-sized business category.
Her impressive background includes overseeing payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company, managing finances for a real estate developer, and serving as a bookkeeper in the construction, painting, and automotive industries. She is well-equipped with a profound understanding of QuickBooks and is currently completing a series of certifications to further enhance her expertise. With her website nearly finished, an engagement letter prepared, and an updated resume in hand, she’s poised to start reaching out to potential clients.
Importantly, she will not be providing tax services and is not a licensed CPA or EA. Her goal is to serve as a cost-effective solution for new and established businesses alike, specializing in cleaning up disorganized books, generating profit and loss statements, balancing sheets, and offering cost-cutting advice, all while ensuring automation is a key focus.
As part of her strategy, our initial outreach will be directed towards local CPA firms. We’d appreciate insight into the best approaches for these first interactions. Should she initiate contact through email, a phone call, or perhaps a face-to-face meeting? We’re eager to know how to make a memorable first impression.
Additionally, we are considering billing on an hourly basis and are open to any suggestions on effective client acquisition strategies.
If you have experience in this realm or valuable advice, we would love to hear from you. Thank you for your support as she steps into this exciting new chapter!
