My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Title: Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Insights from Experienced Professionals

As my wife embarks on an exciting new chapter in her career, she is preparing to step into the world of freelance Bookkeeping. After dedicating nearly two decades to the field, she is ready to transition from working for others to establishing her own practice. Her extensive experience spans various roles, including staff accountant and office manager, where she has successfully handled payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company and managed finances for a real estate developer, construction firm, and auto repair shop.

With a strong foundation in QuickBooks and a commitment to completing all relevant certifications, her website is nearing its launch. She has also crafted her engagement letter and updated her resume, positioning herself to attract new clients. Her focus will be on delivering cost-effective solutions tailored for small to mid-sized businesses and start-ups, as she won’t be providing tax services, nor is she a CPA or EA.

Her forte lies in streamlining financial records, generating profit and loss statements, balancing sheets, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction—all with an emphasis on automation to enhance efficiency.

Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms, and I am curious about the best way to initiate these connections. Should we opt for email, phone calls, or perhaps even direct visits? Additionally, what tips can seasoned professionals offer to make a memorable first impression?

We plan to charge clients on an hourly basis and are also open to any alternative suggestions for attracting clients or general advice as we navigate this journey.

Thank you in advance for your insights! Your expertise will be invaluable as we make this transition.
