My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Advice from Industry Experts

As my wife prepares to step into the world of freelance Bookkeeping, we’re reaching out for insights and guidance from seasoned professionals in the field. After dedicating nearly two decades to Accounting and Bookkeeping, she is ready to transition from working for others to cultivating her own client base.

With a robust background that includes roles as a staff accountant and Accounting supervisor where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a prominent cable company, as well as positions in real estate development and automotive services, she brings a wealth of experience to the table. Her proficiency in QuickBooks is complemented by her commitment to completing all relevant certifications, and she is currently finalizing her website and marketing materials.

Her business model will focus on providing bookkeeping services without tax preparation, as she is not a CPA or EA. By targeting smaller, mid-sized, and newer operators, she aims to offer an affordable solution tailored to their unique business needs. Her skills include streamlining disorganized financial records, preparing profit and loss statements, balancing sheets, and offering strategic cost-saving advice, all while prioritizing automation to enhance efficiency.

Our initial outreach strategy involves connecting with local CPA firms. We’re deliberating on the most effective way to initiate these conversations. Should we opt for email, phone calls, or an in-person visit? Additionally, any advice on crafting a lasting first impression would be greatly appreciated.

We are also open to any other strategies for acquiring clients or general tips that could assist her in this exciting new venture.

Thank you for your insights!
