Navigating the Freelance Bookkeeping Landscape: Seeking Insight from Experienced Professionals
As the world of freelance Bookkeeping continues to evolve, my wife is poised to embark on her own journey in this dynamic field. After dedicating 15 to 20 years to Accounting and Bookkeeping roles across various industries, she’s ready to break free from the corporate structure and establish her own venture. Her impressive background includes positions such as a staff accountant and Accounting supervisor, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company, among other roles in real estate development, construction, and auto repair.
With extensive experience in QuickBooks and a commitment to further professional development—completing all available QuickBooks certifications—her online presence is nearly finalized, including a polished website and an engagement letter ready for client use. As she gears up to attract clients, her focus will be on providing valuable service to smaller, mid-sized, and new businesses, avoiding tax services, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. This clear niche will allow her to assist clients in streamlining their financial processes, cleaning up disorganized books, and providing actionable insights on cost reductions—all while prioritizing automation.
Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms, and we seek advice on the best approach to make meaningful connections. Should she opt for an email introduction, a phone call, or perhaps an in-person visit? Moreover, we’re eager for any additional suggestions that could help her leave a positive and lasting impression on potential partners.
We plan to bill clients hourly, and any insights on securing clients or general best practices in marketing her bookkeeping services would be immensely appreciated.
Thank you for your support as we navigate this exciting new chapter!
