Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Insights from Seasoned Professionals
Embarking on a new business journey can be both exhilarating and daunting, especially when transitioning from employment to entrepreneurship. My wife is on the verge of starting her freelance Bookkeeping practice after years of valuable experience in the Accounting sector. With nearly two decades of diverse roles ranging from staff accountant to office manager in various industries, she is well-equipped to navigate this new chapter.
Her extensive background includes managing payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company, serving as the bookkeeper for real estate development projects, and overseeing financial operations in the construction and automotive sectors. As she wraps up her certifications in QuickBooks and finalizes her website, her readiness to engage clients is becoming clearer by the day.
It’s important to note that while she will not provide tax services and is not a CPA or EA, her focus will be on smaller to mid-sized businesses and new operators who are looking for a cost-effective Bookkeeping solution. She excels at transforming disorganized books into clear, insightful reports, such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets. Additionally, she’s committed to streamlining processes through automation, recognizing its significance in today’s financial landscape.
As part of her market entry strategy, we plan to connect with local CPA firms. This leads me to seek advice on the best methods to initiate contact. Should she reach out via email, make a phone call, or drop by for an in-person visit? Any insights on creating a strong initial impression would be incredibly helpful.
We intend to adopt an hourly billing model, and any further recommendations on attracting clients or general business tips would also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support as we embark on this exciting new journey!
