Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Expert Advice
Embarking on a new professional journey can be both exciting and daunting. My wife is on the brink of starting her own freelance Bookkeeping business after years of dedicated experience in the Accounting field. With 15-20 years under her belt, she is ready to transition from being an employee to becoming a self-sufficient entrepreneur.
Her extensive background includes key roles such as staff accountant and Accounting supervisor, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a prominent cable company. Additionally, she has served as an office manager and bookkeeper for various industries, including real estate development, construction, and automotive services. This diverse experience has equipped her with a comprehensive skill set that positions her well in the Bookkeeping market.
Currently, she is wrapping up her final QuickBooks certifications, and her website is almost ready to launch. With an engagement letter drafted and her resume updated, she is poised to begin attracting clients. Importantly, she plans to focus on small to mid-sized businesses and start-ups, providing them with a cost-effective solution for their bookkeeping needs. Although she won’t be offering tax services, her ability to manage financial records, generate profit and loss statements, and provide insightful recommendations for cost reduction is exceptional. She is also keen on incorporating automation into her processes to maximize efficiency.
As part of her marketing strategy, we aim to connect with local CPA firms. This leads us to an important question: what is the most effective way to introduce her services to these firms? Should we reach out via email, make phone calls, or arrange in-person visits? Any insights on how to create a lasting first impression would be greatly appreciated.
We are also looking to implement hourly billing for her services and are open to any additional tips for securing clients or general advice on establishing a successful freelance bookkeeping practice.
Thank you for your support as we embark on this exciting new chapter!
