Title: Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Insights from Industry Experts
As my wife prepares to embark on her journey into the world of freelance Bookkeeping, we find ourselves eager to gather expert advice from those who have traversed this path before us. After nearly two decades in the Accounting sector, including extensive experience as a staff accountant and office manager across various industries—from real estate development to automotive services—she is ready to take on clients independently.
With proficiency in QuickBooks and a commitment to securing relevant certifications, her website is nearing completion. She has developed an engagement letter and updated her resume, positioning herself to begin marketing her services to potential clients.
It’s important to note that while she brings a wealth of experience, she will not be offering tax services and does not hold CPA or EA designations. Her target audience will consist of smaller to mid-sized businesses, particularly those that are newer and may benefit from an economical Bookkeeping solution. She excels at organizing disordered accounts, preparing profit and loss statements, and providing insights into cost-cutting opportunities. Additionally, she is keen on implementing automation to streamline processes.
Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms. I would love to hear from you: What methods have proven effective for you in making an initial contact? Should we start with an email, a phone call, or perhaps an in-person visit? Any insights on how to make a memorable first impression would be tremendously helpful.
We plan to bill on an hourly basis and are open to any additional strategies for acquiring clients or general advice.
Thank you for your assistance as we embark on this new chapter!
