My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Launching a New Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Expert Tips

After years of dedicated work in the Accounting and Bookkeeping field, my wife has decided to embark on her own entrepreneurial journey. With a wealth of experience spanning 15 to 20 years, she is ready to take on clients and make a difference for small and mid-sized businesses.

Her professional background is impressive. She has held key positions such as staff accountant and Accounting supervisor, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a major cable company. Her diverse roles have also included serving as an office manager and bookkeeper for various sectors, including real estate development, construction, auto repair, and more. This broad exposure has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in Bookkeeping.

Currently, my wife is finalizing her preparations to go freelance. She is well-versed in QuickBooks and is diligently completing all of her certifications with the platform. Her website is nearing completion, and she has successfully crafted her engagement letter while updating her resume. She is on the verge of marketing her services to potential clients.

It’s important to note that she won’t be offering tax-related services, as she is not a CPA or EA. Instead, her focus will be on providing cost-effective bookkeeping solutions to smaller and newer businesses. Her expertise includes cleaning up disorganized financial records, generating profit and loss statements, preparing balance sheets, and identifying cost-saving opportunities with remarkable efficiency. Moreover, she prioritizes automation to enhance productivity and streamline processes for her clients.

As she begins this new chapter, our initial strategy is to connect with local CPA firms. This leads to my primary question: What is the best way to establish contact with them? Should she reach out via email, phone calls, or perhaps a direct visit? Any insights on making a strong first impression would be greatly appreciated.

In addition, we are open to any strategies for acquiring clients or general advice tailored to someone launching a freelance bookkeeping practice.

Thank you for your support and guidance as we navigate this exciting transition!
