Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Insights from Seasoned Professionals
As my wife embarks on an exciting new chapter in her career, she is preparing to transition from employment to entrepreneurship in the world of Bookkeeping. With an impressive 15 to 20 years of diverse Accounting experience under her belt, she is well-equipped to serve clients across various sectors. Her past roles include overseeing payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company, managing Accounting operations for a real estate developer, and providing Bookkeeping services for industries such as construction, painting, and auto repair.
Leveraging her extensive familiarity with QuickBooks, she is currently finalizing her certifications and polishing off her website to establish a strong online presence. She has also created a comprehensive engagement letter and updated her resume, putting her in an excellent position to start attracting clients.
While she will not be providing tax services and is not a CPA or EA, her focus will be on offering practical and affordable bookkeeping solutions for small to mid-sized and emerging businesses. She excels at tidying up disorganized financial records, generating profit and loss statements and balance sheets, and providing actionable advice on cost reduction. Additionally, she is keen to incorporate automation into her processes to enhance efficiency.
Our initial outreach strategy will involve connecting with local CPA firms, and we’re eager to hear from seasoned freelance bookkeepers about the most effective ways to make that first contact. Should we favor an email introduction, a phone call, or perhaps a direct walk-in visit? Any additional recommendations for making a stellar first impression would be immensely appreciated.
Furthermore, we’re interested in exploring other strategies for acquiring clients and welcome any general advice on launching a freelance bookkeeping business.
Thank you for your insights!
