Navigating the Freelance Bookkeeping Landscape: Seeking Advice for Client Acquisition
Embarking on a new journey in the world of freelance Bookkeeping can be both exhilarating and daunting. My wife is on the verge of launching her own Bookkeeping practice after years of dedicated service in the Accounting field. With nearly two decades of experience under her belt, she is well-equipped to assist businesses in managing their financial health.
Her extensive background includes roles such as a staff accountant and supervisor of Accounting, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a major cable company. Additionally, she has served as an office manager and bookkeeper for various industries, including real estate development, construction, and automotive services. This wide-ranging experience has provided her with a solid foundation in bookkeeping practices that will serve her future clients well.
Currently, she is enhancing her skill set by completing certifications in QuickBooks while finalizing her professional website. With her engagement letter and resume polished, she is on the brink of launching her marketing efforts. It’s important to note that her services will not encompass tax preparation, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, she aims to target small to mid-sized businesses and startups, offering them a cost-effective solution for their bookkeeping needs. She excels in transforming disorganized financial records into coherent statements, managing profit and loss reports, and identifying areas for cost reduction with ease. Automation will be a key focus in her practice to streamline processes for her clients.
For her initial outreach, she plans to connect with local CPA firms. We are currently contemplating the most effective method to make this initial contact. Options include sending an email, making a phone call, or even visiting in person. We believe that first impressions are crucial, so we would appreciate any insights on how to approach these firms successfully.
Additionally, we are open to suggestions on how to attract clients and any other general advice for navigating this new venture. We aim to establish an hourly billing structure, which we believe aligns well with the needs of smaller businesses looking for flexible bookkeeping services.
Thank you in advance for your valuable insights as we take this exciting step forward!
