Embracing Independence: A Journey into Freelance Bookkeeping
As my wife embarks on an exciting new chapter in her professional journey, she is transitioning from a traditional workplace environment to freelance Bookkeeping. With nearly two decades of experience in Accounting and Bookkeeping, she is well-equipped to assist businesses in managing their financial records efficiently.
Her extensive background includes roles as a staff accountant and Accounting supervisor for a prominent cable company, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees. Additionally, her experience spans office management and Bookkeeping responsibilities in various sectors, including real estate development, construction, painting, and automotive services. This diverse skill set is a testament to her adaptability and expertise.
Currently, she is enhancing her qualifications by finishing all available QuickBooks certifications. With her website nearing completion and an engagement letter drafted, she is keen to start attracting clients in need of her services. While she will not provide tax services as she does not hold CPA or EA credentials, she is focusing on delivering cost-effective solutions primarily for small to mid-sized and emerging businesses.
One of her greatest strengths lies in her ability to streamline financial processes—whether it’s cleaning up disorganized books, generating profit and loss statements, or devising strategies for cost reduction. Automation is a critical aspect of her approach, allowing her to improve efficiency and accuracy in bookkeeping.
To initiate her client acquisition strategy, we plan to engage local CPA firms, recognizing the potential to build mutually beneficial relationships. As she prepares to make this outreach, we are contemplating the best methods for initial contact. Should we reach out via email, make calls, or consider a face-to-face visit? Additionally, any insights on how to create a strong first impression would be greatly appreciated.
We anticipate billing clients on an hourly basis, and my wife is also eager to hear any other suggestions for landing clients or general advice that could help her succeed in this venture.
Thank you for your support as we navigate this exciting transition into the freelance world of bookkeeping!
