My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Breaking Into Freelance Bookkeeping: Seeking Your Expert Tips

As my wife prepares to embark on her own journey in freelance Bookkeeping, we are eager for insights from seasoned professionals in the field. After nearly two decades of extensive experience in Accounting and Bookkeeping, she is ready to take the leap into entrepreneurship.

Her impressive background includes roles such as a staff accountant and an Accounting supervisor, where she skillfully managed payroll for a large cable company. Additionally, she has honed her skills as an office manager/bookkeeper in diverse industries, including real estate development, construction, painting, and automotive services. With such a broad range of experience, she is well-equipped for the challenges of freelancing.

Currently, she is enhancing her expertise by completing various QuickBooks certifications, and her website is nearing completion. With all essential paperwork, including an engagement letter and an updated resume, she is on the cusp of entering the market for new clients.

It’s important to note that her services will not include tax preparation; she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, she plans to focus on serving small to mid-sized businesses and startups, providing them with cost-effective bookkeeping solutions. From cleaning up disorganized financial records to generating profit and loss statements and balance sheets, she is adept at identifying areas for cost reduction. A key aspect of her service offering will emphasize automation, enhancing efficiency for her clients.

Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms, and we are pondering the best approach to establish these connections. Would it be more effective to send an introductory email, make a phone call, or visit in person? We want to create a solid first impression that showcases her skills and willingness to collaborate.

Furthermore, we welcome any additional tips or strategies on acquiring clients in this competitive arena. Insights on billing practices and effective marketing techniques would be particularly valuable.

Thank you in advance for your shared wisdom!
