Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Advice from Experienced Professionals
As my wife embarks on an exciting new journey to establish her own freelance Bookkeeping business, we are reaching out to the knowledgeable community for guidance. After an extensive career in Accounting and Bookkeeping spanning nearly two decades, she is ready to leverage her expertise to help small to mid-sized businesses streamline their financial processes.
Throughout her distinguished career, she has held various roles, from overseeing payroll for over 800 employees at a major cable company to managing finances for a real estate developer, a construction firm, a painting company, and an auto repair shop. Her diverse background equips her with a comprehensive understanding of bookkeeping practices, making her well-prepared for this new venture.
Currently, she is finalizing her website and completing her QuickBooks certifications. With a polished engagement letter and an updated resume in hand, she is on the verge of entering the freelance market. It’s worth noting that while she won’t be offering tax services and is not a CPA or EA, her focus is on providing cost-effective bookkeeping solutions that smaller and newer businesses can rely on.
Her services will include cleaning up disorganized financial records, producing profit and loss statements, generating balance sheets, and identifying areas for financial improvement. Automation will also be a key aspect of her approach, ensuring that her clients benefit from efficient and streamlined processes.
As we consider our initial marketing strategy, we plan to reach out to local CPA firms. We would like to know the most effective way to introduce her services—should we initiate contact via email, make a phone call, or perhaps visit in person? Any advice on how to create a strong first impression would be greatly appreciated.
Additionally, we welcome any further suggestions on acquiring clients and best practices for a fledgling bookkeeping business. Your insights would be invaluable as we navigate this new chapter. Thank you for your support!
